  Veronica Duenas

Veronica Duenas 2019 Classified Employee of the YearVeronica Duenas, (middle in photo), serves as the attendance clerk at Chavez Middle School and has worked for Oceanside Unified School District (OUSD) for 26 years. Veronica is a dedicated and talented employee and provides amazing customer service to the students and staff that she serves. Her positive attitude and willingness to help anyone makes her an invaluable addition to Chavez.

“Veronica is a valuable asset to our students and families. She works in multiple capacities to tackle new challenges with ideas and solutions and is an integral part of many of their successes,” said, Principal Jenny Morgan of Chavez Middle School.

Veronica genuinely cares about each and every student, regularly going above and beyond in her service. She also greats students at the gate when they arrive for school. Additionally, over the years she has taken it upon herself to create individual incentives for chronically absent or tardy students in an attempt to encourage their timely attendance. Her clear dedication to each student has made a lasting impact on those she serves and a positive difference in her community.

Mary’s ability to make a connection with each student that she comes into contact with sets the positive tone for that student’s entire day. Her bright charisma and generosity makes a deeply positive impact on those that she works with and serves at Palmquist Elementary School.

Principal at Palmquist Elementary Mandy Bell, had this to say about Mary. “Mary is one of the first people our students interact with on a daily basis. Her warm smile and kind heart sets the tone for the day for our students and staff.”

The students know that she truly loves and cares about them as individuals.
