Thank You Faculty & Staff
The Oceanside Unified School District comes together at the start of the school year to reconnect and launch its collaborative effort of teaching tomorrows’ decision makers.
As alumni we share these photographic memories of this school year’s OUSD Welcome Back Ceremony. In recognition of faculty and staff who, with fewer resources, increased demands and even attacks, are educating our youth; at this mid-year point, we take this time to say THANK YOU!
…We, who have walked the OUSD halls in years gone by, truly appreciate your tireless efforts to make a difference in our community, the nation and the world.

New $500 Scholarship!
Oceanside High School’s first day back is celebrated by a generous donation from Mr. Val Alley to the OHS MCJROTC program. Pictured from left to right: Cadet Major Joe Acosta, Col Al Ingersoll, Mr. Val Alley.
Mr. Alley is a graduate of the Oceanside High School class of 1956. After High School Mr. Alley went on to work and serve as part of Camp Pendleton’s Marine Corps Community Services for 25 years. After his first retirement from the Marine Corps Mr. Alley spent another 10 years working for the North County Transportation District. A lifelong Pirate and member of the Oceanside High School Foundation, Val donated $1200 to the OHS MCJROTC program and funded a $500 scholarship – to be named the “TIMEX scholarship” in recognition of perseverance and determination – his motto, “It takes a lickin and keeps on tickin” will go forward to recognize a graduating MCJROTC senior who best exemplifies these same leadership values. In addition to this generous gift Mr. Valley has named the MCJROTC program at Oceanside High School as the recipient of an endowment from his Trust that will provide in excess of $10,000 per year to program. The Oceanside High School MCJROTC is grateful for this generous donation and recognize that Mr. Alley embodies those ideals of leadership, citizenship and service that are the cornerstone of the MCJROTC curriculum. From the students and cadets we send a heart felt OORAH and thank him for remaining Semper Fidelis.
