November 14, 2012     Senior Parent Night (MPR)     6:00 pm

OHS counselors will present information regarding graduation, college applications, entrance & placement tests, financial aid, and other important issues for seniors.

November 27-29, 2012     After School College Application Workshops     (Library)     2:30-4:30

November 27, 2012     College Application Night (D13/D14)     5:00 pm

In addition to our series of after school application workshops, counselors will be availalbe this evening for assistance in completing & submitting UC & CSU applications before the November 30th deadline.

December 5, 2012     Freshman Parent Night (MPR)     6:00 pm

OHS Counselors will present information regarding the development of a 4-year plan, graduation requirements, college readiness, UC/CSU/NCAA eligibility criteria, Naviance Family Connection, and more.  The following week, counselors will be working with freshmen to develop 4-year plans during class vistis in English 9 classes.

December 13, 2012     Financial Aid Night     (Library/MPR)     6:00 pm

Presentations will be made by representatives from Miracosta Community College and OHS Counseling Department.  Topics will include federal financial aid, state financial aid, student loans, scholarships, and more.  This information will be very helpful in preparing to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and for Cal-Grants, which will must be submitted by March 2, 2013.

January 31, 2013 Junior & Sophomore Parent Night (MPR) 6:00 pm

OHS Counselors will present information regarding college readiness, entrance exams (SAT/ACT), eligibility requirements for UC/CSU/NCAA, community college oofferings, Naviance Family Connection, credit recovery options, and more! 

February 9, 2013     Cash-for-College     (MiraCosta College)     10:00 am

Cal-SOAP and the California Student Aid Commission will be available to assist students & parents in completing the FAFSA and Dream Act Applications.  You will need your tax retrun forms for Tax Year 2012 or 2011, Social Scurity card or Alien Registration card, list of colleges of interest, and your PIN numbers.  Apply for a PIN at www.PIN.ed.gov.  Pre-register for this workishop at www.sandiegocalsoap.com. and attend the workshop for free.  You could win a $1000 scholarship!!
