Mission and Vision

Mission:  The AP Chemistry Department seeks to contribute to the intellectual growth of students by further developing chemical science literacy.  This growth will allow students to foster the skills required for scientific reasoning, experimentation and problem solving.

Vision:    The AP Chemistry Department vision is to implement a rigorous curriculum that will allow students to become globally competitive.  While achieving this objective it is also our intention to create life-long learners who possess the skills needed to solve complex problems.

This past weekend, 5 students from the AP Chemistry class participated in the National Chemistry Olympiad local screening test.

Baseem Taraz, Luke Bockmman, Monica Nguyen, Molly Weber and Kevin Tsan.

About 1000 students nationally qualify to take the National Exam. Baseem Taraz qualified to take the National Chemistry Olympiad exam and will represent our school on April 22. He is one of 18 students from San Diego that qualified for the National exam. The top 20 students out of the 1000 will have an opportunity to represent our National Team and compete internationally. Given my short history here, I am not sure if Baseem is the first to qualify for the national exam. But please congratulate him on his accomplishment if you see him. Please also acknowledge Luke, Monica, Molly and Kevin for participating and taking on the challenge.
